Information Concerning Your Computer

You will find two or three different types of protection software programs installed on your computer. They each have their own unique function and all are important for you to familiarize yourself with.

First is your Anti-Virus protection. We use and recommend Windows Security, which is included with the Windows 10 and 11 Operating System.

Second is your Anti-Malware protection which is covered by MalwareBytes. The basic program installed on your computer is FREE. The only problem with using the free copy is that it DOES NOT run in real time. It will require you to manually update and then run a manual scan. We recommend doing this at least two times a week and more often if you do a lot of Web browsing. Please remember that malware can get on your computer in between updates and scans with this basic manual copy. We highly recommend the premium version of MalwareByes which offers real time malware protection. NOTE: If you purchased a license for MalwareBytes Premium at the time of your computer repair or computer purchase please disregard the above.

After updating from an older version or when installing a new copy of MalwareBytes a premium trial copy may be installed. We recommend purchasing the premium version which will give you real time protection against all types of malware. But, if you prefer to run the risk you can change back to the FREE version.

And third, is your temporary file cleaner, ATF cleaner.  We recommend you run this quick and simple little program EACH time you close your browser after surfing the Web. Just open the program, click the “Select All” box and then click “Empty Selected” - NOTE: You may need to click “Empty Selected” more than once to delete all temp files.

ATF cleaner is a simple little program designed for Internet Explorer and the older versions of Firefox and Opera. It doesn't work with the latest versions of Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge Web Browsers.

To clear the temporary files in Chrome, Edge and Firefox please follow these quick and simple procedures.

FOR CHROME: While Chrome is open, press Ctrl+H on your keyboard at the same time. Look near the top left side of the page and click on "Clear browsing data" - Change the time range to "All time" and then click "Clear data"

FOR FIREFOX: While Firefox is open, press Ctrl+Shift+Del on your keyboard at the same time. A Clear All History popup window will appear. Change  the "time range to clear" to "Everything" and click on "Clear Now"

FOR EDGE: While Edge is open, press Ctrl+Shift+Del on your keyboard at the same time. A Clear browsing data popup window will appear. Change the time range to "All time" and click on "Clear Now"
